Black Welsh Mountain are small, hardy sheep from the higher parts of the Welsh mountains. The males have horns, and the females are polled (hornless); they have no wool on the face or legs, and they have long tails.

The wool from these sheep is about 2-4 inches long (5-10cm), and at 24-36 microns is classified as a medium to coarse wool – this makes it perfect for outerwear and other projects that require durable wool.
